The University welcomes applications for the Vice Chancellor’s International Excellence Scholarship from international students who are new to studying at the University of Waikato, and who will be coming to study here for face-to-face study in 2023.
The University of Waikato offers scholarship worth up to NZD$15,000 towards tuition fees for interested and exceptional Undergraduate and Postgraduate (Taught) students in any course of study at the University.

University of Waikato Vice Chancellor’s Scholarship | DETAILS
Students who study online with the University are not eligible to apply for the Vice-Chancellor’s International Excellence Scholarship, with the exception of students who choose to study at the Waikato China Learning Centre (CLC) at Hainan University.
The Scholarships have a value of up to NZD$15,000, and will be awarded to successful applicants who demonstrate excellent academic achievement.
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for University of Waikato Vice Chancellor’s International Excellence Scholarship, applicants are expected to meet the following conditions:
- Applicants must be international students
- Applicants who are enrolling for the first time into undergraduate or postgraduate programmes at the University of Waikato
- Applicants must be ready to enrol in full-time program
- Applicants must have proof of English Language proficiency
- This Scholarship is intended to support talented international students who are enrolling for the first time into undergraduate or postgraduate programmes at the University of Waikato.
